The lim² 2027 Call for Projects is now open (from the 1st of September to 14 October 2026).
For the second consecutive year, the lim² Call for Projects is opening up to a wider range of projects and profiles.
Applicants may choose to apply to the lim² Online Programme, the lim² On-site Programme, or both.
What is the lim² Online Programme?
The lim² Online Programme supports around 50 first, second or third fiction feature film projects at an early stage of development.
It includes:
- one 3-hour online masterclass, also open to the producers of the selected projects, in January 2027;
- two 3-hour online sessions focused on the lim² Toolbox and new methodologies designed to enrich the ideation phase and help move the film’s development forward, led by two lim² tutors, in February 2027;
- access to the lim² Family, an international community of filmmakers committed to a changing world;
- communication support: the announcement of the lim² selected projects is public and relayed by the international press;
- invitations to professional and social events during international festivals.
Participation in the lim² Online Programme is free of charge.
What is the lim² On-site Programme?
The lim² On-site Programme supports 16 first, second or third fiction feature film projects at an early stage of development.
It includes:
- three one-week residential workshops in Brittany, France;
- a series of online meetings;
- development support between March and October 2027;
- a tailor-made industry event, lim² meet, connecting participants with film industry professionals from across Europe.
The participation fee for the lim² On-site Programme is €900.
Eligibility
lim² welcomes applications from writer-directors who:
- are developing their first, second or third fiction feature film;
- are working on a project at an early stage of development;
- wish to deepen the first stages of development of their project;
- are from, or currently reside in, the European Union, a Eurimages country, a non-EU country participating in the Creative Europe Programme, or the United Kingdom. The full list of eligible countries is available in the FAQ below;
- are able to speak, write and work in English.
Applicants with backgrounds in theatre, documentary or visual arts, who have not yet directed fiction films, are also welcome to apply with a fiction feature film.

For writer-directors applying with a fiction feature film project at an early stage of development, the application file includes the following elements.
Summary

Director’s note of intention
Maximum 3,000 characters, spaces included, approximately 1 page.
This note should state your purpose, present your approach, the kind of film you have in mind, and the reasons why you want to develop this project now.

In a few lines, explain how your project resonates with lim²’s commitments: the use of creative limitations and of innovative tools, the creation of meaning in a changing world, or any other aspect you feel is relevant.
Biography / Experience

Filmography and/or other works
You may list up to 3 previous film/artwork, with viewing links, the most representative of your writer/director’s touch
Tell Me
In addition to the written documents, we ask you to send a short video presentation of your project, called a Tell Me.
This video must be around 5 minutes and must be made in English.
It should be:
- filmed with a webcam or your phone;
- recorded in one single take;
- as simple as possible;
- without editing.
In this video, tell us the story you have in mind. Try to take us close to your main character struggle.
Even if your project is still at a very early stage, give us as clear a vision as possible of its trajectory: the beginning, middle and end, the driving force of the story, and the atmosphere of the film.

Good to know / FAQ
The working language of all lim² workshops, meetings and events is English. A good command of English is therefore essential in order to participate.
The application file and the Tell Me must also be submitted in English. However, the final language of the film may be a language other than English.
No. lim² is dedicated to fiction feature film projects. Documentary projects are therefore not eligible.
No. It is no longer possible for the same writer or filmmaker to apply with several projects.

Yes. It is possible to apply as a duo, for example as two writer-directors, or as a director and a screenwriter.
In this case, one person must be designated as the project holder. The other person must be listed in the field provided for the co-writer.
If you apply as a duo, both people commit to attending the three programme sessions so it’s preferable to do the tell-me together, if possible.
If you apply alone, you will not be able to attend the workshops with a co-writer.
The application is limited at 2 persons, you can’t apply as a trio or more.
The results of the Call for Projects will be communicated by email at the end of December 2026.
Yes. Animated film projects are welcome, provided they are fiction feature film projects.
In the application form, you will be asked to include a link to a previous film or artwork, via Vimeo or YouTube.
Please choose the work that best represents your artistic practice, your perspective or your creative world, even if it is not a film.
Please make sure to send only working links.
“Characters”/ “Signs” refers to letters, spaces and punctuation marks.
In the application form, you will be asked to respect a maximum number of characters or signs. Please follow these instructions reasonably: no one will count every single sign, but if 1,000 signs are requested, please do not send 2,000.
The Tell Me should ideally last around 5 minutes.
A video of 4 minutes and 07 seconds, or 5 minutes and 46 seconds, is perfectly acceptable: we are not counting by the second.
However, an 8-minute video will be considered too long, and a 2-minute video too short.
The exact dates of the lim² workshops will be announced later.
For now, we can say that the three sessions will take place during 2027:
- one session of one week in March;
- one session of one week in June;
- one session of 10 days in October.
In case of selection, the participation fee for the lim² On-site Programme is €900 for writer-directors.
These fees only have to be paid if the project is selected among the 16 projects participating in the lim² On-site Programme.
This amount covers training, online sessions, accommodation and meals during the workshops.
Travel costs remain the responsibility of the participants. Scholarships may be granted for travel costs to participants from countries with no support mechanisms.
We encourage applicants to first apply for financial support from their national or regional institutions. In many countries, grants are available for this type of training.
