In 2014 Martynas graduated from Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Film and TV department, BA in Cinematography. In 2020 gained MA in Photography and Media Art at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. He has been working in commercials, music videos, documentaries since. His artistic practice as a DoP and photographer extends to collaborations in theatre and contemporary art projects. Directorial debut, short doc I Buy premiered in 2024. The film is an effort to open existential side of consumerism. His second short fiction, Suez, currently in postproduction explores themes of sadness and endurance through the pattern of stagnation that recurs across personal and global levels.

The Room
Thirty something year old sculptor Mykolas decides to escape his loneliness buried under wood dust and experience life through dating. His dedication to woodwork turns into an obsession with finding relationship. However each date deepens the misery as he tries to satisfy his need for human connection through ready-made recipes for romantic success. Through awkward and painful experiences he comes to realize that closeness can take many forms and to find his own he has to let go of the ideas he has inherited about love and relationships.
