Initially trained as a lawyer, Katya Trichkova soon discovered her true passion for cinema and transitioned into filmmaking. Today, she is recognized as one of the leading Bulgarian producers working internationally, known for supporting filmmakers with distinctive and powerful voices. Films she has produced or co-produced have received major international acclaim, including Stephan Komandarev’s Made in EU (2025, Venice Spotlight), Blaga’s Lessons (2023, Crystal Globe for Best Film at Karlovy Vary IFF), Directions (2017, Un Certain Regard, Cannes), and Bogdan Mirica’s Dogs (2016, FIPRESCI Prize, Un Certain Regard, Cannes). Her latest co-production, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent by Nebojša Slijepčević, won the 2024 Palme d’Or for Best Short Film, a César Award, and the European Film Award, and was nominated for an Oscar.
