Ívar Erik Yeoman is a writer/director from Iceland, where he studied philosophy before focusing on filmmaking. In 2016 he finished a Directing Fiction diploma from FAMU in Prague and then graduated with a master’s degree from Kino Eyes (between Lisbon, Edinburgh and Tallinn) in 2021.
In between, he worked in the film industry in Iceland, most notably for the local director Hlynur Pálmason, of which he also made a documentary about the making of his 2019 feature A WHITE, WHITE DAY titled SCENES FROM A PROCESS.
In 2022, Ívar released two short fiction films from Estonia, DAYS WITHOUT and UIBU TALU. Recently, Ívar was awarded a research scholarship to do a PhD studies at Universidade de Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal, where he is doing artistic research on madness in cinema.
Project
The Ward
THE WARD is a psychological drama with the setting of the harsh and dark winter of present-day Reykjavík Iceland. It takes place inside the walls of a mental hospital for patients with mental and substance use disorders. It tells the story of Lísa, a woman in her early thirties, a psychiatric nurse at the ward.
