Giovanna, an Italian photographer who lives in in London, rekindle the relationship with her troubled family after the sudden death of her beloved brother. In the attempt of both coping with her loss and helping her elder mother Adele dealing with the grief, she asks her to make a list of things she always wanted to do. Adele puts together a surprising list of wishes that will take them into a series of bonding experiences – from visiting her grandchild in the squat where she lives, to hunting down her favourite singer in the South of Italy, up to Norway, to blissfully witness Northern lights.
When Adele gets diagnosed with Alzheimer, Giovanna will have to fulfill her last wish: spending the time she has left in her own place, not in an institution. This will turn her into an artist-carer who will use her own art to deal with the deflagration of those very memories she helped to create, sharing the last journey with her, into the unknown.
