Marcel Beaulieu is a Canadian screenwriter, of 35 years experience. He has written or co-written some eighty screenplays, almost all for the big screen. He won the Best Swiss Movie of the Year prize for Séverine Cornamusaz’ “Coeur Animal”, the Best Screenplay Award at the Namur Film Festival for Francis Leclerc’s ‘Looking for Alexander’ and the Fespaco Best Screenplay Award in 2015 for Belkacem Hadjadj’s “Fadhma N’Soumer”. The movies he has worked on have won more than 200 national or international prizes, including one Golden Globe, for Gerard Corbiau’s “Farinelli”. He has also given screenwriting workshops around the world, from Yaoundé to Algiers, in Burkina Faso, Mali, Switzerland, the Republic of Congo, Beirut, Cairo and Marrakesh. He has been a consultant for Le Groupe Ouest in Brittany since 2007.
Pierre Hodgson was born in London in 1959. After Oxford, he came to Paris where he was coordinator on Olivier Assayas’ first film and 1st AD to Raul Ruiz on TREASURE ISLAND, shot in Portugal. The next years were split between a job as a TV producer in London and screenwriting for Joao Canijo in Lisbon. Two of these films went to Un Certain Regard.
He continues to combine making documentaries with screenwriting, including Philippe Grandrieux’ SOMBRE, Randa Chahal’s INFIDELES and three features by Jerôme de Missolz. He has worked with Thomas Bidegain, Patricia Mazuy, Jean-Gabriel Periot and Marina de Van among others. He tutors at Le Groupe Ouest | European Film Lab since 2014.
Antoine Le Bos
Antoine was coming from a previous life in sailing and philosophy when he graduated from CEEA in Paris. He first directed short films and on-stage experiments, before signing or co-signing around 25 feature scripts for independent filmmakers. He won the Gan Foundation Price as a writer in 2005, created Le Groupe Ouest in Brittany in 2006, which has become N°1 place in France for coaching writers. With LGO, he has created the Cross Channel Film Lab experience, and more recently launched LIM | Less is More, the European development programme for limited budget features. Since 2016, he works as an advisor/tutor in India for NFDC. He’s been closely collaborating with TorinoFilmLab since 2007.
Born in Buenos Aires of a Polish father and a British mother, based in Paris for many years and currently living in Barcelona, with a multicultural, multilingual background, Miguel has been working since 1995 as a scriptwriter and development and creative consultant on projects from all parts of the world, running scriptwriting workshops and individual consultancies in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa and specializing in what is sometimes labelled as World Cinema, though his track record as a script analyst also includes major studio films and works from prominent filmmakers such as Clint Eastwood and David Cronenberg. He has published three books on screenwriting and acts as an advisor on several programmes supported by Creative Europe.
Monica Rattazzi was born in Morocco. She has studied literature, theatre and cinema at Paris University (FR), Reading University (UK) and Brooklyn College (NYC). She has worked as an actress, an assistant to theatre director, production and script writing in Paris, Amsterdam, New-York, Brussels, Porto Novo, Bamako, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Geneva, Epernay…
After her acting career was interrupted by a stage accident, she became a professional translator, a playwright (received the Beaumarchais Award) and was accepted at the Conservatoire européen d’écriture audiovisuelle. Since then, she has worked as a script writer, screen writer, has been awarded the Prix Polar — SACD and has published her first novel.
All of her work – including when she works has a consultant – is always directed by this absolute requirement which she considers to be at the core of any creative process: it is all about our ability to grasp what is essential… and then convey it as clearly as possible!
